Why do I have to renew my pet's license every year?

Cities and towns provide a lot of great services to help keep our communities safe and when it comes to pets, it's easy for things to quickly become out of control. City officials are responsible for everything from animal control and pet rescue, to maintaining pet parks and city trails. You do your best to keep your pet safe and happy but we all know, accidents happen. A license allows city officials and your fellow citizens to identify an animal, contact their owner, and make decisions that are in the best interest of the pet.

Since the last time I licensed, my pet has been spayed/neutered. How can I update their profile to receive the correct rate?

The City of Battle Creek provides discounted licensing rates for spayed/neutered pets. If your pet has been sterilized since their last license, you will need to update their profile to reflect these changes. Once updated, you will automatically be charged the correct rate when you renew their license.

In order to receive the discounted rate, you will need to provide proof that your pet has been spayed or neutered. During the licensing process you are required to upload a legible digital file of the certificate. If you cannot locate your certificate, please contact your vet for assistance. If you already have an account click on the “View Submitted Documents” button on the right to upload and submit a file.

Wondering when your new tag will arrive?

Typically tag shipments are received in the mail 10-12 business days after your order is processed. You can login anytime and access your profile and not to worry, city records will show your pet has an active license.

There’s no ifs ands or buts about it, licenses are required to be renewed prior to their expiration date for all pets living in Battle Creek.
